Accessibility
Eirene Therapy believes therapies should be accessible. The following details may be of help to you.
In my previous roles, I worked closely with people who had a wide range of disabilities. I am an experienced Rebound Therapist and have both lived and work-based experience of neurodiversity. As a holistic therapist, I currently treat neurodiverse clients, people who have complex disabilities, and support their families. It is important to me to be able to offer treatments to everyone where possible, and I encourage you to get in touch to see if I can help you.

The home treatment room is up a standard set of stairs. There is a banister on the right as you go up and a wall on the left: you are welcome to put your hands on the wall if you need to! I do offer a limited number of mobile treatments and I currently work with clients who are wheelchair users and who have complex medical needs within their own homes. Please do get in touch if you want to discuss this further.

Having a treatment should be a relaxing sensory experience. If you need me to adapt my treatment, please do let me know. For example, I can change pressure, use unscented balms, play music of your liking or give a silent treatment. Some people prefer to talk throughout their treatment and that is fine too! Movement breaks are also encouraged if needed.
Communication and Language: for your safety, we do need to complete a form before treatment can begin. This is usually done at the start of the first treatment and checked for changes at future appointments. I can send this out via email in advance. I am familiar with key signs from Makaton and BSL and also work with people who use eye gaze technology and picture systems.
I offer treatments on a massage plinth or LaFuma reflexology chair. These have weight limits of 15 stone (plinth) and 22 stone (chair). For your safety, please let me know when booking if I will need to make alternative arrangements. If I am working within your home, I may suggest using your furniture if that is more appropriate.

A toilet is available for use  by clients. The room is quite big, but does not have grab rails etc. If you need the toilet during a treatment just let me know - I'd rather pause a treatment than have you distracted and in discomfort.

What Happens in a Treatment?
In a reflexology treatment, I would usually ask you to sit in the chair. Once we are ready to start the treatment, shoes and socks are taken off (I can help here if needed) and I lean you back in the chair. During the treatment, you may experience feelings such as tingling, whooshing, sharpness or twitching. This may happen in your feet or elsewhere in your body. If it does not feel comfortable, just let me know and I will adapt my treatment. I will also pause at times to write notes: this is to support me in building an effective treatment for you. I will discuss my notes with you at the end of the treatment. At the end of the treatment, I will let you know so you can get ready to sit up with my support. Again I can help put socks and shoes on if needed.

In a massage treatment, I will welcome you into the room before then leaving so you can change. You keep your knickers/boxers on. You get onto the massage plinth and cover yourself with the towels provided. During the treatment, I will move the towels, but at all times I will ensure that your underwear is covered. At the end of the treatment, I will let you know that I am leaving the room. You can take your time to get up from the plinth before getting dressed.
As a member of #RespectMassage, any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and underwear must be worn at all times during a treatment.
